WP4 aims to develop a new web-based ESD curriculum and a virtual student/staff mobility scheme.

Description of the work
A curriculum development team will be set up for content nodules development (Task 4.1). The modules will amount to 90 ECTS plus 30 ECTS for the Master thesis. The themes will reflect the four pillars of sustainability (environmental, social, economic & cultural). Each module will consist of a set of lessons with embedded interactive components implemented as Flash animations and/or Java applets. It will be multimedia based (inclusion of sound files, images, graphics, animations and movies). Know-how will be transferred from partners implementing ESD-related Master programmes (P4,P5,P6,P7) and from the LLP 3-LENSUS (Lifelong Learning Network for Sustainable Development) and eLearning (Virtual Campus for Sustainable Europe) being implemented by P5. Content modules will focus on: 1) ESD theory and practice; 2) ESD in the context of whole-school planning and in-school/district capacity building; 3) Public awareness and ESD action in practice at the local level; 4) Applicability of ICTs and transformative learning methods to developing ESD instructional content and 5) ESD and participatory action research. The number of content modules will vary from 10-15 divided into: foundational; core; and specialization. In line with content modules development there will be development of learning scenarios upon which the staff/student virtual mobility will be structured (Task4.2).
