Dublin City University (DCU) was initially set up to fulfill the national requirement for a highly-trained workforce with skills in many areas such as education, science, computer technology, communications and languages and as an agent for change in its local community. DCU has developed its own research specialisms, creating a number of national centres of excellence that collaborate with other universities internationally. The DCU School of Education Studies is committed to promoting positive values and encouraging good quality research, particularly research that engages with issues ·of Citizenship & Intercultural Education, Equality & Diversity, Curriculum & Training, Education for Sustainable Development, Technology-enabled learning and Science Education as well as research leading to innovations in Teaching and Learning. Several research projects at the School of Education Studies have led to changes in government policy and practice.
