Uppsala University (UU) is the oldest university in the Nordic countries—founded in 1477. Education and research is provided through nine faculties: 50 programmes, about 45 master programmes, and close to 2,000 single-subject courses. The division of Human-Computer Interaction is part of the IT Department and focuses on the design and development of user interfaces. It also offers a comprehensive two-year Masters' Program in HCI. UU also coordinates the Baltic University Programme, ·a network of more than 190 universities and other institutes of higher learning throughout the Baltic Sea region, aiming to promote ESD. The Programme is under the Center of Sustainable Development. The aim is to support the key role that universities play in a democratic, peaceful and sustainable development.
